FILM FESTIVALS
The 24 hour film festival is underway and ready to start
promotions. Look for an email from Chris with the promotional
flyer. if everyone could please print out 5 copies and post them
wherever it would be a huge help! The Monster Energy drink
company agreed to sponsor the event and we are now looking for
additional sponsors. If you are interested in going downtown to
look for sponsors contact Chris.
If you are interested, the Virginia Film Festival at UVA is the
weekend of November 6th. We have some members planning on
attending. If you would like to go, contact Adrienne.
PROJECT UPDATES
Project Isaac began filming last Saturday. It was an overall
successful shoot. Gordon is looking to have the first scene
edited to show to AMP in the next couple of weeks. The group is
planning on shooting this weekend. I doesn’t look like
additional help is needed for this weekend, but Gordon will keep
everyone updated. Larger fight scenes are coming up and extra
help will be needed.
That’s it for this meeting. Have a great week everyone and see
you on Monday!
WORKSHOPS
There is a cinematography workshop on Wednesday (Tonight)October

ideas on what movie you would like to watch.
FILM FESTIVALS
AMP is trying to get a group together to go to the Virginia Film
Festival at UVA the weekend of November 6th. Also, UVA is
hosting a 72 hour film festival, The Adrenaline Project, that
same weekend. Groups of three can sign-up and each group will be
paired with a filmmaker with professional experience. It is an
excellent opportunity for you to work with experienced
filmmakers. The deadline to apply is October 19th.
The 24 hour film festival has been scheduled for November 14th.
The theme is monsters! Save the date and start organizing your
groups of three!
PROJECTS
Project Isaac is kicking off its filming this weekend on the
first scene. It will be a small shoot, so no extra help will be
needed. However, Gordon will be looking for extra grips on
future shoots. If you are interested in assisting, contact
Gordon.
Kevin is planning to shoot his film over Thanksgiving break. If
you are around Blacksburg during that week and are interested in
helping, contact Kevin.
The HokieSports project is looking for members interested in
filming promotional videos for the Baseball team. These videos
will play on Hokiesports.com. I am in charge of the project and
I would love to meet with anyone interested and start
brainstorming ideas. Email me at Apost07@vt.edu and let me know
if you are interested and when you are free. If you have already
expressed interest I will be in contact soon to set up a meeting
time.
November, a short relationship drama, written and directed by Paul Hinson, is finishing up the last two weeks of production. Check out all of the hard work of your fellow AMP members involved in the production here. The blog features behind the scenes photos and video as well as in-depth discussions of lighting and cinematography.

Dear AMPers,
Today we will be meeting in Johnston Student Center 104 at 9:30pm. We will be
holding officer elections and then discussing plans for next semester. The
positions you may run for include:
President
Vice-President
Secretary
Treasurer
Public Relations (2 Slots)
Webmaster
All you need to do is discuss what you would do if given the position. I hope
to see you there.
- Kevin O’Connor
Echoes production is finally finished as of 12:59 pm on Sunday, December 7, 2008! This does not mean that the film is anywhere close to being done, however. Post-production is a long, and tedious process that I’m sure Kevin would love help on if any of you are willing.
Hey AMPlings,
So we are making a lot of progress in filming Echoes. I have watched all of the
footage, and it looks spectacular. There are a few more things we need to film
before Thanksgiving break, but none of this requires in-AMP planning. This
means that we will have an improv meeting!
We are meeting at 9:30pm in Johnston 104 (yeah, I prefer Squires, too). The
theme of the meeting will be to create a mockumentary (i.e. The Office, Spinal
Tap, Best in Show). I’m sure all of you have seen a few mockumentaries, but
just so you know they generally entail video interviews with the actors and the
camera as an existing object (actors can look at and talk to the camera).
Everything else is up to your group. I hope to see all of you there!
Hey Everyone,
It looks like Jessica has a few obligations in the morning, so we will be meeting at 10:00 am instead of 9:00 am. The schedule for the remainder of the day will stay the same. Here are some notes about what each person will be working on:
Assistant Director: Help me out with directing the actors. The scenes we are shooting tomorrow require strong acting direction, so this will be very important.
Director of Photography: You will be working primarily with the camera operators and lighting expert to set up crisp and well-composed shots
Producers: You are essentially organizing the day and checking to see who can/cannot show up. You will also have a large say in many creative elements of the film.
Second Unit Director: You will be responsible for all camera B shot setups, and you will also be responsible for non-actor footage. While the actors are preparing, you can set up shots of the surrounding area (ducks, scenery, etc.).
Continuity Director: You will make sure we don’t end up with obvious flaws in the film. Watch closely to the actors’ clothes, gestures, and positions. Please speak up if you see any potential problems.
Production Designer: Help us make use of our locations. If you have any specific ideas about how to utilize the area, this is you field of expertise.
Lighting Expert: Essentially help create a solid light design
Boom Operator: hold the boom
Costume Designer: Alex already sent the actors and email about clothing to bring
Set Design Crew: The bench scene doesn’t require a large setup, but please stick around because there will be plenty of tasks to complete. The balcony and bedroom scenes definitely require setup. If you have any ideas for the balcony set, please email me so we can bring the necessary materials tomorrow
